Gudhi is handcrafted from Wooden Base, Stick, Copper Vessel, Traditional Maharashtrian silk cloth, and all relevant auspicious symbols of Gudi.
On this same day, Shalivahan defeated the enemy and started the new ‘Shalivahan calendar’ in the 1st century. People celebrated this victory by hoisting ‘Brahmadhwaj’. This Brahmdhwaj itself has been popularly known as Gudhi or Gudi.
